Where do you buy your yarn online?

Where do you buy your yarn?

I live in a tiny little coastal town and our only craft store (JoAnnes) just closed. I need more colors but don’t really know where to go online.

I am hesitant to get any from Amazon since most of their craft supplies kind of suck, and I just really don’t trust any shops on there. (F Bezos)

But I also don’t have the money to be buying $8-$20 skeins direct from yarn companies.

I also am neurodivergent and very much struggle with texture and feel. I’d hate to spend money on skeins and then never use them because I can’t stand the feel, but couldn’t feel them before buying.

Long story short! Where do you get your yarn online that doesn’t break the bank? Any pointers and ideas are very much appreciated!

(Copy and pasted cuz idk what the outreach of posts is like)

I haven’t actually bought any yarn online yet, because I don’t have a job (not for lack of trying, lol), so I can’t afford to meet the minimum threshold for free shipping.

However, that being said, I have heard a lot of good things about both Hobbii yarns and Premier yarns.

And definitely don’t buy yarn on Amazon, trust me on this. And Temu sells your information, so they are also a no-go.

For specialty yarn like sock yarn or natural fibers, I like Yarn – Skein Shop because their shipping is always free. They just ask that you buy at least two skeins so that they are not losing money offering said shipping.

So far i have only ordered from premier yarns and This shop. I believe the second one always has free shipping, more specialty yarns but they have some bernat blanket and others for good price.

I dont order much for the same reason, cant afford to get to free shipping  and who likes paying shipping.

I order from premieryarns.com
I have sensitive skin so yarns like red hear irritates my hands while working with it, but I haven’t had any issues. Their Basix yarn isn’t isn’t quite as soft as Big Twist Value but it’s sturdy and doesn’t fall apart. They also make my favorite chenille yarn.

I like Premier Yarn the best. Given your ND, I think you’ll like their cotton or bamboo yarns.
Free shipping >$75 in USA.
Bamboo Fair is soft to work with and to wear.
Bamboo Pop by Universal Yarn is heavenly.
Cotton Sprout and Minikins are good.
Bamboo Select is soft too.

For ND, avoid Puzzle Cotton- weird texture.

And I don’t know how you feel about acrylic- but I think their Basix yarn is a very good acrylic yarn. Soft, thick, wide range of colors, and doesn’t feel plasticky- my opinion.
