how do i put wire in a crochet piece? like the neck of a dinosaur? but without it being pokey and stuff

I usually use a pipe cleaner, but I also bend the end so it’s like a hook kinda.

So when I put wire in (like flower wire) I will either bend the end if the wire is long enough for the project OR I wrap the ends with some tape like duct tape so it’s not pokey.
