Yarn Type

I usually use red heart or the Walmart brand yarn, and usually the size 4 yarn, tho I’ve used other kinds sometimes

I used to work with hobbii cotton yarn but shipping time was pretty long for me, so I’ve recently switched to premier basix which is decently soft and acrylic

Loops and Threads by Michaels. If you order online you can usually either get one for $3.49 (40% off). Or BOGO. It is super soft, works up good, the colors are awesome. I knit and Crochet with it. I made a ripple afghan for my son using black and white and holding one strand of each color together. (Used a p hook). It turned out really good! It launders well too!

Everything is softer than RHSS! But it’s great for beginners because the starch on it keeps the fibers from splitting making it easier to crochet with.
However, the yarn I learned to crochet with was tape yarn. But that stuff is like $9-12 a ball. That was back when I was making ALOT of money.

Woobles is like tape yarn, but that stuff is too expensive.

Of the acrylics:
The scratchiest in my opinion are:
Impeccable ( Loops and Threads)-hate it
Vanna’s Choice ( Lion brand)- really hate it
Red Heart Super Saver- not bad because I can soften with vinegar and it’ll still hold it’s shape
Value ( Premier)

:soft ones are
Caron ( but the splitting )
Big Twist ( formerly Joann’s) but it doesn’t hold shape well
Basix- ( Premier) hands down my favorite- way softer, had a little loft, holds shape well, minimal splitting)
