Thank you for making this space AI free. AI cannot create like humans. Art is not about the product it’s about the process and AI can’t do that.

Thank you, AI does have it’s place, just not in the world of craft. It’s often hard to spot ai, so it’s good that we can all look after each other :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you so much for posting about this! I just recently reported an AI pattern and was amazed by the response of your team by taking it down within 5 mins!

Thank you Lir! I appreciate the AI-free mission of Ribblr. I am not familiar with AI patterns. Is there a clear way to spot them?

Thanks!

No more AI patterns!!! Btw, how do you know what’s real and what’s fake?

AI has a hyper realistic dreamy glow and just doesn’t look like something that would be taken in a normal house. Also the stitches are not real stitches they don’t look like real stitches. If it has something like this in the description: step into a world of whimsical wonder, or: imagine how much fun you’ll have making this adorable stuffed toy.

real patterns have this realistic photograph that looks that it would be taken in a REAL home and there are actual stitches on it not fake blobs melted together. They also have imperfections and that’s ok, it’s better the too perfect AI stuff.

Oh. I thought they meant they asked ai to write a pattern, and then made it and took a picture and stuff. But they just put straight up ai pictures? If ai writes a pattern and you make it, there is no way of telling though:(

They do sometimes do that but most of the time it’s a pic.

Yes! I agree with all of the image and copying stuff, but honestly chatgpt or gemini can be kinda helpful when you need to figure out information about stuff. Not all AI is bad, but using ai to make things that you claim is yours is wrong.

So they ask AI to write a pattern and AI produces both the pattern and a picture. The creator won’t make up the pattern to see if it actually works - ie: the pattern actually makes what the picture looks like. The ‘creator’ just uploads the AI generated pattern and picture to the likes of e!$@ and sells it to unsuspecting makers, who, after purchasing the ‘pattern’ later find out, when they’re follow the instructions, the pattern doesn’t produce what is shown in the image.

It’s getting quite challenging to differentiate the AI from the real deal. When something looks just too good to be real, chances are it’s AI. If you are unsure, always check the reviews and/or ask the shop owner. Even still there’s no guarantee. If in doubt, don’t buy it.

yeah, but sadly if you only ask ai to write the pattern, and then you “test” it and post it, there is no way of tellin:(
