And worst think is like all dog and cat pattern are ai and Iām like I just want to make my doggy and not have to freehand it give me a real pattern
Nicee I love doing research, I do it all the time! Very insightful!
it makes me so mad bc new crafters buy ai patterns by accident all the time, bc they donāt know what to look for. also when they make these patterns, and it inevitably looks way different than the ai photo, they can feel so discouraged and the thought of that just makes me so angry >:(
yea.. this is sad ![]()
At least most people who crochet (especially amigirumi) can tell when an image is AI and avoid it, but having to trudge through all the slop listings is annoying ![]()
The harder ones are chart patterns that are zoomed out further. AI has gotten better at making flat stitches look correct, so many people are being fooled by blanket patterns.
Wish they would add a āthis is AI not handmadeā flag specifically. Itās also why I havenāt joined Etsy even though I would love to give my patterns more exposure ![]()
Yeah i agree. One of the worst things is when they have bots in the reviews ![]()
yes, if AI canāt be banned in crafting, then the āthis is AI not handmadeā flag should mandatory
Omg its so baddddddddddd i literally want to SCREAMMMMMM
For sure but letās say I buy an art print. Itās still AI instead of an artist creating the image but most likely I will receive a print of the motif I decided for. I personally wouldnāt call that art but it would do the job to make a wall look less plain.
If Iād buy a cheap watch on TEMU it would tell the time until it inevitably breaks or the battery dies because of poor quality and clothes from Shein will be wearable - once or twice. If these products were completly broken Iād get my money back.
But selling AI patterns means to sell something that you know is broken by default. It canāt work and yet it is being sold? Thatās like selling water that will make you live forever or a chemical that will turn everything into real gold. No big plattform goes that far, only Etsy
AI makes me so mad! I go out of my way to search for patterns that check all the non-AI boxes ![]()
I have found plenty of patterns on ravelry, here, and on designers websites. That and free patterns, God bless those designers, are all I do. I avoid etsy like the plague anymore cause itās all obviously ai swill
It really has! I have seen sooo many cute patterns i would love to do but they are AI. One i am going to release is an AI have basically redone from top to bottom. I have been working on it for months. I will admit i have used AI to help me when I get stuck on the AI pattern to guide me. I have a few I want to rework just reading the pattern I know you canāt make it as it is written.
I look here first. I bookmark a lot of inspiration on a lot sites. But my biggest thing is I want instant access to a pdf. I understand why it doesnāt work that way here but keeping my tablet charged and using mobile hotspot when internet is down, isnāt great for me. My vision is better when I can move printed pdf around and easily carry with me.
Iād pay the designers here a dollar extra to provide pdfs in addition to Ribblrās unique line by line system.
I have even found AI patterns on designers sites. The one I am rewriting is one of those. It made me soo mad. I even commented on their page for help and never got a response.
Yep, and it makes me soo mad that they wonāt refund it either because they are not able to make them either.
How do you know right away it is AI? Is it because it looks so polished and perfect? Seriously wonder this as I know there are amazing creators who do work that even surpasses.
They are frequently missing steps or parts to finishing the item. Like the one I am working on is missing how to create the little details/stripping on it. It didnāt have the color change from the back to the belly, it didnāt have the raised part to create the lip.
They are very vague on how to make it.
I totally agree with you. Looking back now most of the images on patterns nowadays are AI. Itās hard too because you want to get it but itās always hit or miss when there an AI image on the pattern. I hate that so is getting out of hand especially in all the communities, thatās why I like ribblr and its āReal makers. Zero Slopā as it makes sure that ai isnāt advertised in the patterns and thatās what I love about ribblrā![]()

Yikes.
AI is so disappointing with crochet and just art in general.
Same. The Etsy thing is real. There was this person who did wool felt that I saw recently and there were some fake reviews but one person stuck in my mind. They bought this adorable little mouse holding a star, but weāre tricked because that adorable picture turned out to be AI, so the actual mouse was not very cute. This wasnāt a āoh well it was only five dollarsā mistake, the mouse cost $55. Seriously. If this isnāt robbery I donāt know what is ![]()
