I think Iām gonna go for midi-maybe maxi! It probably just depends on when I run out of yarn lol
Those are so pretty!!!
AHHHH I know exactly what yarn Iām going to use lol
Eep! So exciting; canāt wait to see it!!
Thank you!! Iām glad you think so
Makes sense, lol!!! That adds another layer of fun to it - the mysteryā
I ended up not having time to make the bag pattern but I did get a ton of things done since the last post!
I finished one of my Forever WIPS (A project that will always be in WIP so I have something to do, very mindlessly simple projects I donāt need to look at and will be used when Iām traveling or staying at someoneās place without my stash lol) which was a very simple Double crochet (US) in the spaces so I just had to feel them without worrying a lot about the stitches I Used Lion Brand I Wanna Make a Blankie (2 skeins in total) the hook was 8.00MM. I finished it since I was visiting family + I got more yarn since I used a gift card that I intend to be my next forever WIPs, I have it folded here
I crocheted two hats for a custom order from the vintage Huckleberry Pie and Strawberry Shortcake show for a Halloween costume. I also worked more on my own Halloween costume! I finished the mask, finishing up the capelet to be just a little longer, made a hat using a pattern by Hayhay Crochet which I modified a bit to look more like the hats work by Plague doctors and freehanded a lantern! Just need an LED tea light since the one in it right now was just something I had laying around lol
Iām also making this Spiderweb top! On the last panel before I connect the pieces , using a 5.00MM (Boye) and Bernat Baby sport yarn I had in my stash for awhile
I did end up having to buy more yarn, for the custom orders (Good news is I finally have pink ) but for the black I used my unlabeled black skein so that was good! For the pattern Iām testing I did have to order more yarn for that as well but it should be gone by the time I finish the pattern so while I do have more yarn that just means I have more yarn to destash lol
Paya is so precious love the earrings you made! I love the pattern you used too! Just added to my wishlist lol
I love to research my yarn especially if itās online since Iād like to know the texture that others describe it as. I really want to try the Caron Colorama halo yarn but no clue what to even make with it
Wow, Iāve been so busy recentlyā
Unfortunately, last week I fell down the really steep stairs in my backyard and I managed to injure almost every single part of my body (especially my hand)
So, I took the week off and Iām just now getting back to crocheting very slowly today, although it still hurts.
On other note though, I ordered some gorgeous rovings from Etsy!! Fingers crossed they get here today because I am so excited to work with them haha.
Last week I started on a hat for my grandma in this stunning Mecha Malabrigo yarn
So Iām excited about that too :]
Update
I made it a row and a half through my blanket before my hand started hurting so bad I had to stopā Guess a week wasnāt long enough to heal it, so Iāll be taking a lot of breaks todayā
For my treat yarn i love chenille, i dont use it that often because its fairly expensive here in the uk (although ive recently bought some from temu that im undecided what to make with). I made these chunky hippo slippers for a test this week and theyre so cute!
Bonus: no i donāt really research yarn but i do buy more when i realise i like it, usually in the other colours!
No Buy November is underway - and before anyone asks, you can absolutely buy things for your craft needs; itās just a catchy title to drive home the idea that we will be trying to work from the yarn stash we already own! This is really truly the chillest of challenges solely meant to motivate you to create, so get cozy and feel free to share your latest works with us (even if theyāre not on theme ).
This monthās prompts will embrace not only the year slowly (well, quickly LOL) winding down with themes that honor our ever-busy schedules, but will also hopefully encourage playfulness and curiosity with our craft.
This first week asks you to use your scraps however you see fit! Whether you use only scraps, get decorative with them, or use them as a stabilizer - anything is fair game as long as scraps are incorporated in some way. Get creative and, most importantly, have fun!
Inspo post coming later tonight
Ooooh Iām going to try and use only scraps
That sounds like a fun challenge - eager to see what you come up with!
Hereās a roundup of pattern inspo from ribblr. As usual, youāre not required to use any of these patterns - theyāre just a guide. Ofc if you want to use one, please do!
This is a mix of patterns I think could work well for a scrap busting prompt, either because they donāt appear to call for much yarn, they are specifically scrapbusting in nature, or the colorwork is minimal enough one could potentially work scraps in somehow. What isnāt included in this bunch, but is definitely another viable option for using scraps, is using them to stuff your plushies or other creations where you may need āstuffingā. Because these prompts are general, you could even take your scraps outside of the knicro world and into the fine art sphere, using them as yarn paint, so to speak. I welcome any interpretation of the prompt that resonates with you.
Chenille yarn can definitely get costly, so I can see why that would be a treat to work with - especially on a somewhat larger project. The slippers are positively precious omg
What colors did you get from temu or did you decide what to do with it yet ?
My yarn research is similar, haha. When Iām in store especially, Iāll just grab something that intrigues me, but when buying online I tend to do a little more studying up ā¦though not always
I feel your pain on the busy front. I swear once September hits itās like the rest of the year is a whirlwind.
Iām terribly sorry to hear about your horrible tumble and the resulting injuries.
Gorgeous roving is very exciting! When I get a moment I need to catch up on the spinning chat because Iām sure Iām missing out on some serious eye candy. Speaking of, though, Malabrigo has - hands down - some of the most gorgeous colorways Iāve ever seen in my LIFE! And that is quite the beauty working up for your Grandmaās hat. She is gonna be over the moon. It looks like it has an interesting texture, too.
Please take as many breaks as you need to, as frustrating as it may be. Itās always so hard to be unable to take advantage when the motivation and desire to work is strong, but your wellbeing is most important. I hope youāre on the mend and any pain eases up soon.
Iāve been remiss on my weekly spin-for-a-winner duties, so I think Iāll just make it so that anyone who participates over the course of the month will be eligible for a gifted pattern. If you participated in Destocktober, just reach out to me with your desired pattern. No pressure ofc if youāre uncomfortable, but you each deserve one, and Iām more than happy to share this temporary wealth of mine.
omg youāre so sweet for doing this!! š©·
Paya is a little ham! But hereās some sweet, sleepy Paya for you all
Isnāt it a gorgeous pattern? I love a good floral square, and they work up so quickly too! Honestly I add so many patterns to my wishlist because of the inspo posts or yāall sharing your works, haha Also, thank you!!
Ooh I have the Colorama halo, and surprisingly have used it mostly with amigurumi (see photo) but think it would make an exceptionally cozy garment or accessory, especially for the colder months! Possibly even a blanket⦠I think the lovely color phasing would really shine in any of those contexts.
I made a blanket with it!! It was SO SOFT.
I can only imagine! It was probably an absolute dream to snuggle up with!
Oh my gosh a forever wip is such a smart idea!!! (I feel like I say this to you every week, but you have so many ) Especially the ācan mindlessly workā bit - I think it would also be a good idea for when feeling overwhelmed, too, like a comfort project you cam return to but not have to think too much about , haha.
The hats sound adorable!!! I love the vintage Strawberry Shortcake styles, they were so cool!
That plague mask is one of the most AWESOME makes Iāve ever seen. You nailed it! And the improvised lantern too
Iām excited to see your other wips finished I am honestly flabbergasted how much you accomplished, though - mind if I borrow that dedication and time management?
