Yeah, chunky yarns skeins are very deceiving. It’s good to make a habit of checking how many yards it has.
Haha, I love it though. And it was my fault for choosing a yarn that I almost didn’t have enough of. Your creature design is beautiful.
Are you still planning to make your version of it? I have been keeping my eye out for it.
RIGHT?! ![]()
Yeah, at some point, I have a lot of stuff on my plate and I’m not sure when it’s going to let up.
But you won’t be disappointed, I like putting a lot of detail into my work.
I am so excited to see it! I know I botched some of the details.
I think I’m going to use tiny yarn to mini crochet it. If I use normal yarn and put all the detail, I want it would probably end up being giant and hard to play with. (I love mini crocheting something crazy and having other crocheters go: HOW’D YOU DO THAT?!) It’s so much fun. XD
Here’s something that I mini crocheted so you know what I mean:
(I made this a while ago; I needed more practice with a glue gun.
)
Wow! You are going to blow that dragon design out of the cosmos!
HOWD YOU DO THAT?!
Hehe ![]()
i so badly wanna do mini crochet but i am so dang scared of it and i burnt myself out on making amigurumi. ![]()
i’ve been toying with the idea of trying irish lace crochet.
equally as scary to me.
I made a blanket once and the color pattern was stripes. So I was at the second to last stripe, and the last row of that stripe and I was abiut to run out of yarn so I decided to make my stitches super tight because I was not about to go get more yarn and I lost yarn chicken by THREE STITCHES
I ended up just using the next color and continuing on but the tight stitches made it look super wonky. I hate yarn chicken

Oh no
That’s horrible ![]()
I was testing a pattern that was written for beginner yarn and haven’t used beginner yarn in a very long time. It was a small pattern and I really like the projects from the creator though, so I applied and got it. I ran out of black about 80% through. I had another skein of it, but a different brand. Figured I was safe. Nope. Not even close. The new skein was double the thickness and a slightly different color black than the original that I was using. ![]()
I had to run to Michael’s (they are only a mile from my house) and hope they had something comparable, in their limited supply of stuff.
Well, in case you want to try it I use artist crochet thread. Very cheap at Hobby Lobby. And start with light colors… Mini crocheting with dark colors is brutal.

i’m bound to try at some point so thank you for the pointers!
I had an extra skein so I know many don’t think it’s yarn chicken, but my most frustrating situation, even after frogging and attempting to tighten up the row, I technically had enough yarn to finish stitching, but not enough to have a tail to weave in. I was so close to being able to return my third skein.
